India’s Ministry of Communications announced that all incoming postal exchanges—letters and parcels—from Pakistan via land and air routes have been suspended.
The decision comes amid escalating tensions between the two nations. Earlier, following heightened hostilities and a terrorist attack in the Indian-controlled Kashmir’s tourist region of Pahalgam, the Indian government had already imposed a complete ban on imports from Pakistan.
Additionally, India has canceled all visas for Pakistani nationals and asked those residing in India—including individuals on medical visas—to leave the country.
The New Delhi government clarified that these strict measures were taken to ensure national security and uphold public policy. The suspension applies to all goods in transit until further notice, with any exceptions requiring prior approval.
However, Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar recently stated that while bilateral relations remain strained due to recent tensions, diplomatic channels between the two countries have not been completely severed, and official communication lines remain operational.
