The Media Office of the Palestinian Government in Gaza issued a statement warning that 290,000 children are now at risk of death due to Israel’s blockade on the Strip.
According to the statement, for the past 64 days, the Israeli regime has prevented the entry of baby formula, food supplies, and all forms of humanitarian aid into Gaza. As a result, over 70,000 children have been hospitalized with severe malnutrition.
The statement further revealed that under this deliberate siege, more than 3,500 children under five are currently fighting for their lives from starvation, while another 290,000 are on the verge of death.
It emphasized: “While 1.1 million children are deprived daily of the most basic food needed for survival, this crime is being committed by the Israeli occupation, using starvation as a weapon – all under the shameful silence of the international community.”
The Media Office condemned Israel’s policy of deliberate starvation, calling it “full-scale genocide under international law.” It held the international community complicit for its silence and failure to pressure Israel to end this “criminal and immoral blockade.”
The Palestinian government urgently called on global leaders, UN agencies, and humanitarian organizations to take immediate action to pressure Israel to reopen crossings, ensure the swift and regular entry of baby formula and nutritional supplements, and end this inhumane siege before more innocent lives are lost to starvation.
