US Senators Warn Trump’s Tariff Policy Undermining National Security

Three US Senate Democrats have raised serious concerns about President Donald Trump’s tariff policy, warning that it is harming America’s national security interests.

In a letter addressed to Trump on Friday, Senators Jeanne Shaheen, Jack Reed, and Mark Warner expressed their “deep concern” over the administration’s approach, saying it is hurting American households, fueling inflation, and threatening long-standing US alliances and partnerships.

“We are writing to express our deep concern over your Administration’s tariff policy and its harmful impact on US national security,” the senators wrote.

They cautioned that the new tariffs announced this year will cost American families thousands of dollars and could further isolate the US on the world stage.

“We expect administration officials to speak to the impact of US tariff actions on our alliances and partnerships as part of that process,” the senators added.

“If your tariff tirade continues to spiral, ‘America First’ may result in ‘America Alone,’ leaving our citizens less safe and our nation less strong and less prosperous,” they warned.
