The Foreign Minister of the Syrian transitional government, Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani, has announced that Damascus is poised to regain its significant role in both regional and international arenas.
In a speech reported by Al-Jazeera, Al-Shaibani expressed optimism about the future, stating, “Everyone will feel a sense of belonging to the new Syria, and we will turn the page on oppression and tyranny.”
He further assured that the government aims to facilitate the dignified return of every individual displaced from their homes, emphasizing that “the cornerstone of the new Syria will be the fair representation of all its citizens, regardless of their backgrounds, and the advocacy of their rights.”
Al-Shaibani also declared that Syria is determined to reclaim its position as a key player in the region. Additionally, he underscored the importance of legal accountability for those responsible for the suffering of the Syrian people, vowing to bring perpetrators of torture and killing to justice.
