Hamas: We will resume indirect talks with Israel in Qatar

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced that indirect talks on a ceasefire in Gaza and a prisoner exchange with the Israeli regime will resume today in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

Hamas released a statement on Friday evening, emphasizing its ongoing commitment to reaching an agreement that fulfills the needs and aspirations of the Palestinian people. The organization highlighted its key demands, which include an immediate end to the war, support for the nation against what it describes as genocide and ethnic cleansing by the Zionist regime. They stressed that the current round of negotiations aims for a comprehensive ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip, and the safe return of refugees to their homes.

Hamas also urged the media to be cautious about reporting unverified information that comes from unknown sources. They believe that such reports are intended to increase pressure on the organization and destabilize its support within the community.

Reports indicated that delegations from both Hamas and the Israeli government were in Cairo recently. After the Israeli negotiating team proposed new demands, a Hamas delegation arrived in Egypt to advance ceasefire discussions regarding the Gaza Strip.

Hamas leader Musa Abu Marzouk stated that talks are set to continue in Doha on Friday, expressing hope that this round of negotiations presents a significant opportunity for success. Spokesman Jihad Taha mentioned that the delegation’s visit to Cairo followed previous discussions, working with mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey to remove obstacles imposed by Israel that could prolong the violence. He conveyed optimism about the possibility of reaching an agreement, affirming Hamas’s commitment to sincere conversations aimed at protecting the people and doing everything possible to end the violence, killings, and displacements affecting their community.
