Israel bombing Gaza despite ceasefire agreement is drawing outrage around the world, with growing calls for action as the civilian toll keeps rising.
Israel has accepted a new US proposal for a ceasefire with Hamas, a move that has made US officials optimistic about ending the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.
Yet, just hours after the announcement, Israel bombing Gaza despite ceasefire continued. On Friday, Palestinians fled the scene of an Israeli strike in Gaza City that caused multiple injuries. According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, and as seen in videos from Jabalia, Palestinians were left rummaging through the rubble of destroyed buildings.
A young girl was seen salvaging some bracelets; a boy picked up a handful of pillows. At least 12 people, including three women, were reportedly killed overnight in the strikes on Jabalia. Videos showed displaced Palestinians suffering severe injuries from Israeli airstrikes that have devastated entire communities, leaving heartbreak and loss in their wake.
Civilian Suffering Mounts as Israel Bombing Gaza Despite Ceasefire
As Israel’s blockade of international aid continues, Gaza residents say they are being robbed of hope for a peaceful life. News of a possible ceasefire was met with disbelief by many. Civilians sleeping in their homes—unarmed and unsuspecting—were jolted awake by random shelling. Now, they say, “Here we are, civilians cut in pieces.”
“We have stopped calling on Arab and Muslim countries. We appeal to every free person in this world,” said one Palestinian resident. Israel bombing Gaza despite ceasefire has left behind a horrifying trail of death. For those who have survived, daily blanket bombings have brought relentless fear and suffering for more than 61 days now.
Palestinians in Gaza have endured hunger, thirst, displacement, and continuous aerial attacks. “Last night, they said there would be a truce at 9:00 p.m. Suddenly, at 12:30 a.m., everything changed. Instead of feeling joy, I looked up and saw martyrs—some with their heads gone, some with their hands missing, dead children lying in the streets.”
Israeli Footage Released Amid Ongoing Strikes
The Israeli military also released footage that it claimed showed troops operating inside the Gaza Strip. In a statement, the Israeli army said its troops continue to fight Hamas militants in Khan Yunis. Just a day earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that his government had accepted the US proposal for a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release.
Israel Bombing Gaza Despite Ceasefire: Deal Details and Response
The proposal does not require Israel to end its 19-month offensive in Gaza but does call for both Israel and Hamas to begin talks for a long-term truce. The United States, Egypt, and Qatar would act as guarantors of the ceasefire deal. Now, Hamas says it is reviewing the new proposal, which the US says has already been signed by Israel.
Hamas leaders say that in its current form, the proposal would only result in more bloodshed in Gaza. So, what does the US plan include? According to Reuters, the proposal calls for a 60-day ceasefire and the release of 28 Israeli hostages—alive or dead—during the first week. In exchange, Israel would release 1,236 Palestinian prisoners and return the remains of 180 deceased Palestinians.
The truce document, guaranteed by US President Donald Trump and mediators Egypt and Qatar, includes a promise to send humanitarian aid to Gaza as soon as Hamas signs the agreement. For now, the next move belongs to Hamas. The group has told Reuters that it is reviewing the plan and will respond by Friday or Saturday.
Humanitarian Crisis Deepens as Israel Bombing Gaza Despite Ceasefire
Israel resumed its military offensive in March after the collapse of a US-backed ceasefire that had temporarily halted fighting for two months. In total, Israel’s campaign in Gaza has killed more than 53,000 Palestinians. And as the bombings continue, so does the outrage.
In the United Kingdom, more than 300 celebrities—including artists, actors, musicians, doctors, and even a Holocaust survivor—have come together to say enough is enough. In an open letter addressed to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Grammy-winning singer Dua Lipa, Golden Globe-winning actor Brian Cox, and BAFTA winner Benedict Cumberbatch joined others in demanding that the UK end its complicity in the violence in Gaza.
The letter, released Thursday, calls on the UK to immediately suspend all arms sales to Israel, ensure unrestricted humanitarian aid to Gaza, and help broker a permanent ceasefire. The letter argues, “Words will not feed Palestinian children. This complicity is not inevitable. It is a choice.”
The signatories accuse the UK government of enabling Israel’s military campaign, saying that UK-made components may be “destroying families in seconds.” Their appeal came the same day Israel announced plans to legalize 22 settlements in the occupied West Bank, even as strikes on Gaza continued.
