Egypt and Turkey Discuss Developments in Gaza and Libya

The foreign ministers of Egypt and Turkey held a phone call on Sunday to discuss the latest developments in Gaza and Libya.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty spoke with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, about regional developments and the situation in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said the call was part of periodic consultations to support Egypt-Turkey relations and exchange views on Middle East developments.

Abdelatty expressed appreciation for the progress in bilateral relations across various fields, as well as the high-level visits between the two countries.

The two ministers reviewed developments in the Middle East, particularly in Gaza, in light of the humanitarian catastrophe and Israel’s ongoing brutal aggression against the Strip.

The Egyptian foreign minister briefed his Turkish counterpart on Egypt’s efforts to achieve a ceasefire, secure the release of hostages and detainees, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, medical supplies, and shelter to Gaza.

The call also included discussions on developments in Libya, particularly recent events in Tripoli.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s stance on preserving Libya’s unity and territorial integrity, as well as ensuring that the political process remains exclusively Libyan-owned.

He stressed the importance of holding presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.

Regarding bilateral cooperation, Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s willingness to continue joint efforts, particularly in economic, investment, and trade cooperation, taking into account the existing potential for both friendly nations.
