Qatar Charity launches Quran literacy project in Bangladesh

Qatar Charity has initiated a Quran literacy program in Bangladesh to help children with reading difficulties learn and understand the Holy Quran. The project is part of the Al-Furqan Quranic Literacy Program, which focuses on both religious education and personal development.

The program was launched at two social welfare centers in Bangladesh – Markaz Muhammad bin Ajaj Al Kubaisi Center and Sakhaa Center – with over 600 sponsored children participating. The opening ceremony included Quran recitations, cultural activities and educational competitions.

Dr. Mohammad Amin Hafez Omar, Country Director of Qatar Charity’s Bangladesh office, said the initiative aims to build character and values through Quranic education. Teachers explained the curriculum begins with basic Arabic before progressing to Quranic verses and their meanings.

Students expressed appreciation for the opportunity. Zakaria Dewan said learning the Quran properly was his dream, while Khadiza Begum shared how the program gave her hope. Ataul Islam noted the importance of studying in Arabic for connecting with his faith.

Qatar Charity currently supports 5,082 students in Bangladesh through various educational assistance programs. The new Quran literacy project represents the organization’s continued commitment to empowering youth through spiritual and academic development.
