The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has held a coordination meeting with the Ministry of Defence to explore ways of enhancing school scouting programmes through closer collaboration and the involvement of Armed Forces personnel in educational activities.
The meeting, chaired by Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Maha Zayed Qaqaa Al-Ruwaili, brought together senior officials from both ministries, including Brigadier General Talib Antar Al-Marri and Captain Salem Mohammed Mahmeed from the Ministry of Defence, as well as Jassim Al-Hardan, Commissioner-General of the Qatar Scouts and Guides Association.
Discussions focused on integrating select personnel from the Armed Forces as active leaders in scouting programmes for boys at preparatory and secondary school levels. The aim is to foster a sense of national identity, discipline, and leadership among students by creating a dynamic learning environment that supports personal development and active citizenship.
The meeting also saw the approval of a general framework for institutional cooperation between the two ministries, along with a strategic plan for launching the project in its pilot phase. Roles and responsibilities for participating military personnel were clearly defined, with an emphasis on regular evaluation and continuous improvement to support future expansion.
This joint initiative reflects the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s commitment to building strong national partnerships that enrich the educational experience and promote the development of well-rounded students. It also aligns with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, which places human development and the empowerment of youth at the core of the nation’s progress.
